Nice pics Darin - thanks for sharing.

I like the "W.VA. Hemi Charger", top of page #4. If he shoved that rear any farther it would be FRONT wheel drive .

Jesse looked like the only Pontiac there, but maybe I missed one.

Cool Pics, Darrin, a few of the cars in those pics still survive today in restored, and unrestored(needing restored) condition, a friend, local to me has, or has owned a few of those mopars and mustangs! BTW, your link to Spott's performance is misspelled and it sends you to a different site, just letting ya know!

Thanks Pont406! Guess I was tired that day.

I grew up in York, but way after the good ole days! My father would frequent the races, and did a little street racing of his own. Would have been neat to see these cars in their day!

Being as i was born in York and lived there till 1976........

Ya got any pics of US #30 from 1969 thru 1975 ? Never had time to take any. To busy working and racin back then. LOL.

Had a Silver 68 Z-28 and a few 56 Chevies in C & D/MP

Used to race there every weekend. It was paved and had a tower then.

Went back a few years ago to show Karen. Still can find the staging lanes, but all grown over. Had to take a rather rough road to get back there. But racin there the flashbacks were awesome. Got pics somewhere.

Take note of the '65 Mr. Unswitchable. Rare shot. Not many pictures out there of the '65 version of the car.

P-Dude,

Since you were racing at York in the 70's and are a Pontiac guy maybe you can help me. I have been trying to find some history on my '57 Chieftain Safari 2 dr. wagon. My brother purchased this car in York in '79 from a used car lot on rt. 30. I remember going with him to buy the car. I was 16 and he was 20 at the time. The body and interior were stock but the drivetrain had been replaced with a 389 tri-power, 4 speed, and 4.56 gears. Although I do not know for sure that it was ever raced at US 30 it is quite likely that it was. The car was brown with a gold roof, cragar SS wheels, no lettering, just a few stickers in the windows. I know it is a long shot but I keep hoping that someone will remember the car. The car is currently undergoing a restoration. Any leads on the history of the car would be greatly appreciated.

If you can find him. He had a car lot in New Salem. Check with a Donnie Hess. Maybe others know him on this board. I have his number somewhere. We used to hang and street race all thru the early 70's in York.

He IS the Pontiac racin man since the late 60's in York.

Also the other Pontiac racer in the 70's was a Shaffer in Dover, Pa. He had a killer premo red 62 Cat with a 421 claiming 389.

We hung too, but getting old and forgot his first name. Your talking 30 plus years ago. LOL. I left there in early 76.

Thanks for the info P-Dude. It's a start. If you could scrounge up a phone number or address for Hess that would be great. I checked the white pages and there are a bunch of Donald Hess's in the York area. I hate to just start calling people. I assume that I am looking for a guy in the 55-70 age range since this was 30-35 years ago.
