I have the same pump and was told the same thing by the manufacturer.so i didn't put it in.I have a 4 row radiator an 18" electric fan ,The motor has 11 1/2 to 1 compression, aluminum heads and it runs between 180 and 195.If i just cruise i will stay around 180-185 if i beat it alot it's right up 195-200.What i do is park it for 5 minutes with the engine turned off running the water pump which will bring it down 150 or so and then start over.
Hope this helps. |

FWIW, typically when you talk with them they will not recommend a restrictor.
We tried it both ways and found with no restrictor it ran cooler. |
