Grease on new wire harness connector...
There is some brownish grease packed into the connector of my new engine harness, should this harness be connected with the grease still on there, or does it need to be cleaned off first?
Thanks.

Leave it on. Helps keep water out of the connection

yup, electrical dielectric grease. Used as a moisture barrier and corrosion inhibitor. It's non-conductive, and the terminal engagement pushes it out of the way when you plug in the connector. So the electrical contact is made, and the grease hangs around and seals out moisture. Whenever I work on an old bulkhead connector, I like to pack some new sparkplug boot grease in, to serve the same purpose.
