Horn Relay Grounded Yes No?
Does the Horn Relay need to be grounded for it to work properly?
Thanks, |

It may be different depending on the year and model, but I'd say generally no. the relay coil is grounded at/by the horn switch; the other connections are battery and horns.

How many terminals are on it? Is the case plastic or metal? George is correct, generally one set of terminals contains the 12V and ground which is made by pushing the button the steering wheel and grounding through the column, and then the other side's switched 12V goes through the coil and grounds at the horn body.
I have seen some relays that had a metal case and you can see the 4th terminal coming out from the relay and connecting to the case where it is grounded at the firewall or similar location. But this depends on year and application. |

The Horn Relay is plastic with a metal case on the outside. Three sets of wires, one is two wires hooked together. The Horn relay it self has 1,2,3,4&5 stamped by the blade terminals. The number 5 does not have a blade, There are only 4 blades. I hope this helps.

What may be more helpful is to state which car this is on. We had a power outage and my crystal ball is not working j/k
