I just got my motor back together and in the car. Should get it running in the next few days. After a 500mi or so break in I'm thinking about using Mobil1 or the like synthetic oils. Any reason not to do this? It's a 389 mild build, red line 5900rpm, moly rings, rod clearences .021-.023, mains .022-.025. I don't expect any leaks from this motor. BOP rear main seal. It's basically a street motor with limited strip use.

its fine to use as long as you use something with zinc to protect your cam

If it's well buttoned up, go for it! Usually, the biggest obstacle to going synthetic in these motors is the old seals starting to leak with the more slippery lube. For a newly rebuilt motor should not be a problem.
