Auto trans shifter shaft arm th350 to 2004r

I installed a 2004r in to my 66 gto. The only trans shifter arm I have is off the th350 trans. It's not really indexed right. When in 1st and 2nd the cable from the floor shifter is to straight with the pin on the shifter arm. I can't really reindex the slot for the shifter trans shaft. I may have to weld a piece on it to relocated the pin for the cable. What are you guys using as an arm on the trans ,for those that have gone to the 2004r? I have enough floor shifter throw to make all gears but the wrong angle at the trans. I hope this makes sense.
