Default 66 GTO made me want to cry

Well I was visiting my grand parents, it was about 9 or 10 years ago, I was cruising around El Paso, Texas, and lo and behold what do I see, a black 66 GTO, this thing was beautiful, I stopped because it had a for sale sign.

Well I walked up it was Black outside and Red inside, it had a 389 Tri-power, and a Four speed transmission, this thing was show car nice.

I walked up to the for sale sign and it says, numbers matching 389 tri power, 4speed muncie, factory posi, 4,500 dollars

I talked to the guy who owned it, he worked at the garage where it was parked, he said he needed the money really bad, so I went to the bank, went back 3 days later, no money in hand but ready to write a check.

I walk up to the shop, its not there, I walk inside talk to the owner, and he said that guy hadnt shown up for work the past 3 days, said it was really weird. I wanted to cry.

Supposedly the owner said maybe the mob hadnt gotten him, I dont know if he was joking or not.

Anyways, this is a true story and I really wish I had been able to buy that GTO.

a '66 tripower a guy was going to sell me for $300
complete, nice
i'd seen one tripower carb and the manifold

he said he'd dig the rest out the next week and have it all at work, so stop by then

by the time i showed up next thursday, the guy had been fired, no forwarding address...no tripower

I was not a happy camper

You are probably one of the luckiest guys that I know. Imagine that you were able to buy that car, and the owner didn't pay off his debt.
Next thing you know, you get accidentally gunned down becuase of mistaken identity.

Chances are if the guy just dissapeared, he may not have been legit nor was the car. People just dont go away like that. Its probibly better off that you didnt get it. Could have been a fake title or equivelint an a lot of headaches.

Thats my feel good story.
