I had to build a garage to house my toys also, 28x40 with 11' ceilings & 2-10'x9' doors. I put 6 speakers in the ceiling, sat TV and a full bathroom i also have wireless network so there is internet access also. No reason to go into the house well maybe 1

Default garage blueprints

Hey, I'm going to build a garage up here in Canada for my 69 Firebird and Porsche. Pontiacs are my favorite though it doesn't get driven so often. Live on a farm with dirt roads so I'm a little leary about taking it out. Alot of moron drivers spitting up rocks. Anyway here we need the blueprints or at least well documented drawings. Doen't know were to get them unless I hire an arcitect. To much money. Anyone have some they could email me or mail. Looking at a pole barn due to taxation. It will be a farm barn on completion (inspection) for about a week then it gets a poured floor and presto. Plan on using a framed ceiling with tin on the roof and sides. Can later insulate but I tend to only use the heater to break to chill. To cold during the deep freeze months and the incentive is gone anyway till March. 28x40 would be a good size. 2 garage doors and an entrance door.

something terrible happened! I didn't get these updates/emails on this thread until now! Anyway, some great looking shops here. Thanks for posting and replying.

I liike the post about "honey, you left something in my garage. here, i brought it in for you. ;-) "

If I can just kick the wife's car out of my shop now, I'd be much happier!

40 x 48, steel pole building with hardiplank siding on front to match the house. Sorry for the small pic, I am on a work computer.

I can park 2 long cars in each stall.

Lots of room, I plan to fill it up in the years to come.

Right now has 1970 GTO, 1966 3/4 ton Chevy truck, 8 X 16 car hauler, and I park my 2000 Suburban inside.

Lots of work benches, storage, overhead hoist. No lift yet, maybe someday.

that looks great-mine is a 1 man job also :-) less arguments than building the house.
Elec rough-in done, insulation done, drywall about 80% & Doors are going on today 2x(10'x9'), seems like a long time coming.

I'm in the process of getting info together to guild a garage. I'm curious how these steel garages hold up in high winds like we sometimes get here during hurricane season. My wife doesn't think they would be a good idea. thoughts ???

Counties have wind code ratings . Nearer the coast the higher rating . Mine should be good for 110 mph .... Dade county Fl. has the highest wind rating in the nation ... you increase the wind rating by adding more fastners ...

Where is the best place to find garage plans?? I want to build a 2 or 3 car garage. Part of the ceiling needs to be 12' for a lift. Also have a room at one end with a small bathroom to use as a "safe room" during hurricanes. Also have the trusses opened up down the middle for storage space in the attic.

Decided I wanted to have as big a garage as would fit in my backyard...always wanted to have lots of room, so instead of moving house I just built it where I am. 12Metres x 7.5Metres with full upper floor.
1st pic, main floor....

2nd pic, storage loft (now with lots more stuff in it)

Some of the workbench area...there's more bench on the opposite side of the garage

Another view of the main floor area from the other corner

I moved alot of stuff into my shop today but before that i setup the sound system, I have 6 ceiling speakers that are 100 watts hooked up to a speaker distribution box then to the Sony amp and let me tell ya they sound great for the price.I have purchased sound equipment from the same vender for my house also and there service and quality surprised me for the cost of the equipment.
I don't work for these guys but i have to give credit and pass along a great item .

I love this thread!!!
I have been on it for almost two hours, lol
My current narrow garage is 12 x 24
I used to put my 65 GTO in it before I sold it very tightly to one side. I could not do anything if it was in there. I won't even attempt to put my 67 in their.

I am looking into Amish wood/frame built modular garages. About two towns up from me (Goshen) I can get a fully vinyl sided (color of choice), delivered in two pieces by a trailer and fully assembled unit for $11,000 I would just have to have a slab poured before it gets there. I have no idea what that would cost yet..
Size 25 x 30
including two garage doors, one entry door, two windows and one side barn door. The craftsmanship is beautiful, even the screws are all (golden colored, brass? Copper? allen type)

can you share (post or email me) details on the Amish garage? I'm on Long Island so I'm not too far from you. (BTW, I grew up in Spring Valley.)

My garage is too small to see anything so I had to take this picture from the outside.
(The garage is down the slope behind the Renault 5 Gordini Turbo - group 2 race car. That's the green one with the number on the door for those who don't know what a Renault is !!)
