They look fine to me- and I'm one of those purists. The dark gray will fade a bit with age, but that, and the masking method, looks like it more closely resembles that used by Pontiac in the late '70's (with the rim painted the darker color).
Now, I have to get cranking on painting my new set of 15X7 KR/JW style wheels...

I dont see anything wrong with them. The red lugnuts are a little distracting but everyone likes different things. I love the red centers though. I need to get those for mine. I have the stainless looking center with the Pontiac emblem. Nice but those you have are better. I would say pat yourself on the back.

I just realized that was the masking with the blue "spokes." Actually, I like the colored spokes. Makes me want to try it with mint turquoise (70 color) with a charcoal or dove gray background. Thanx for the pics.

TJH, did you buy some Roproduction wheels or did you have some made?

I found a set that someone had built, using the 14" centers and the 15" rims. They look really good, but I'm going to re-blast them (plastic media- nothing too abrasive), so that I know what is under the paint. They came in primer, but I have no idea what type.
I still want to have a fresh set made up, but haven't gotten around to it. By the time I added in shipping to re-build my wheels into 15", buying these made sense. Aside from the lack of the code, they look identical to the correct KR/JW's. And, if you powder-coat original wheels, you end up burying the code anyway, making it effectively invisible.

Spray with clear so the paint will last longer. Painted mine 4 years ago and they still look like I did it yesterday.

Question nice wheels!

I was hoping to find out what kind of media you used to blast the wheels. I currently have some 80 grit garnet, but I don't know if it's too coarse to try or not. Thanks!
