Default 65 am fm radio wiring colors ?

am i correct in the following

yellow's power

green front speaker

brown rear speaker

blue accessory control

and yes i know i need a service manual, it's on the list. the wiring diagrams are pretty poor for accessories in the 60's cars.

thanks, mike

You have brown & blue confused. I believe that the mile long blue goes to the rear speaker. Brown is the feed for all the accessories for certain.

The positive speaker wire will either go to the front speaker or the speaker switch.
We were taught in trade-school (electrical) to know for yourself and not to depend on someone else.

as was i jeff, i was trying to save a bit of time laying under the dash, upside down with a shifter cable jabbing me in the back. the service manual sucks in regards to wiring these old car's accessories. i have an a-body manual and it shows the power feed only.

solid green was definitely front speaker, black with green tracer are speaker wires, exiting the second plug in the harness. blue appears to be an accessory control as it exits the radio in a separate plug on the opposite side as the power /speaker wires. it has a red connector, if that's significant. i've not traced the brown down yet.

thanks for the replies,

mike

bruce, the rear speakers were prewired by the previous owner who installed the "high tech" late 70's tape deck. i just reused them.

i got lucky and robbed the yellow power connector from a parts car that i picked up for the 2spd trans.

I will check tomorrow, but I think the wire with the connector clipped to the side of the radio is used to power the reverb.

Have you had teh carpet out ofthe car yet? Sounds like there could be a reverb harness there (3 wire ribbon & blue)
