He is a machinist by trade and makes many of his own parts he hasn't had the cash to buy. So he doesn't have the budget and advertisers that others may have, so what! He is having fun AND going fast!
To answer a couple of questions I have read in the posts, yes he has sold the car. No he has not sold it to get out of racing but instead to build a
Funny Car for his blown Pontiac to go faster! I wish him all the luck in the world!
I have purchased the car from William. He kept his engine and transmission but I bought the rest of the car complete. It has a nice cage in it recently certified to run down to 8.50. It is a well engineered car built really solidly. It launches straight and goes true down the track. I just hope I can own the car for 20 years like Bill did and have half as much fun in it as he did.
Lighten up people. Arent we all Pontiac people? Isn't that why we are here? My mom told me if you don't have something nice to say about someone don't say anything at all.

people tend to jump to conclusions without all the facts, i know most people don't mean it that way, bench racing sometimes gets out of hand. i am glad bill has stayed with pontiacs, most people get pissed and turn chevy. by the way, are you going to put a pontiac into the gto you bought from bill? this shouldn't deter you from doing so, we all have our own ideas when it comes to building pontiacs.

I did put a Pontiac back in it as soon as I got it here. A buddy and myself thrashed on it to get it ready for the last race of the year got it together just in time. I put a 455 and turbo 400 in it and ran 10.83 at 122 with it. I couldn't get the trans brake to work so that was footbraking to around 2000rpm and mashing the throttle at the last yellow. Can't say anything positive about my reaction times but it sure was fun. I went from a low 13 second street car to running 10's. Yee Haa! Can't wait for this winter (-9 right now) to end.

Here's a fact for you:

13:1 compression blown alky engines go BOOM! when you put 80% nitro' in the tank.

John, I read that they are putting together a Kauffman block and an Eagle crank with 14 to 1 compression and will be running it on 95% Nitro. Found this on Google!

To quote one our Boss Bird advisors (Bill Miller.....no doubt about his credentials) "With nitro, compression is your enemy".

NHRA TF and FC engines are on the ragged edge with approx 7.5:1 compression. The vast majority of racers who are successfully using nitro on a limited budget seem to be in the 6:1 to 7:1 range.

Really, I know the CR is low on the Top Fuel cars, etc.
It's just the blanket statement Brian made.
With the right combo it would work, maybe not optimal though.

John...are you retarded? Or do you just like arguing for the sake of arguing? When the experts in the field won't run more than 7.5:1, what makes you think anything higher than that will work?

They also aren't using a Pontiac?
Does that mean you can't run it with a Pontiac?

Arguing for the sake of arguing.

Wouldn't have mattered what internal combuston engine it was in. 13:1 CR + boost + 80% = KABOOM !!!

Here's a couple of Pontiac-specific data points (I don't have my notes here...going from memory):

Steve Barcak runs slightly over 6:1 with a big percentage (90+%...right Steve?)

Arnie used to run 25% and could not go higher than 8.5:1 compression.

Jim's trying to get a rise out of me with that MR1 cast crank nitro' comment, that's all.

I figured as much. My first thought was, what are they trying to set a record for a motor to grenade before the 60' mark!
