I couldn't believe someone would pay that for a non original car..
What's so hard about putting a 2005 GTO motor and 9" ford rear in a generic 1970 GTO? Even the dash board was customized. Yuck. |

but didn't do a whole lot for me. Just looked like someone bought a wrecked '06 and put all the parts on a '70 and "Foosed" it up with wheels and a stereo. Just not my style, I guess. Ron

I was shocked to see it too. Forget about your restoring your car with matching dates codes and parts. Just buy a late model wrecked GTO and move over as many parts as you can. Then sell it to a rich guy for $125k? What the F?

I don't think it was so much the car as it was those guys egos, they knew they were on TV and the price got a little over what anybody expected and then one loud swoon from the audience and it was ON then! Took them about 60K to get their senses back.

70ra455 - I'll leave the money making to others. If you have to chop up a GTO to do it!

I love how you guys simplify these builds. Take a look at the pics on the site, that car was crafted from the ground up. The work looked impeccable and would love to see it in person. Wrecked 05 + rust bucket 70 = that! To each their own as always.

I agree with you Humbler. It's one heck of a machine. I would like to see more of that frame mod over the rear axel. Thats kind of thin for a frame. Tastefully done though. I knew it wouldn't be long before someone put a late model GTO powertrain into an old GTO.Still it is hard to believe the bucks people will dish out for these old cars. No matter what the car type or style, like it or not, it does help keep our hobby alive. I personally like the factory look. I don't care about numbers matching as long as the car looks original.
Just my two cents.

I hope the new owner of that car wants to keep it. He'll take a bath if he trys to sell it.

First you're not looking to make money then you're commenting on someone will take a bath! You're assuming that this person's motivation is one that you claim that yours isn't. Maybe the guy just likes the car and has the money to buy it.
Live and let live. Your cars are worth that much more now. Do you want to sell me your cars for 5 year ago prices? (Not the Scout!) I'll buy and contract not to resell for 10 years. ![]() |

I would like to see a more traditional size wheel/tire combo on it, but other than that, I like it alot.

There is alot of interest in cars like this presently.
Call it Pro Touring or Retro Mod I think these will continue to grow in popularity. One mag had a Buick GS recently with LS installed and "fit kits" (mounts, etc) are coming on market. Reggie Jacksons Camaro is getting the new crate LSX capable of 2000 HP says GM site. Ive been shopping prices for a project in planning, and a used LS2 is still a few bucks and kinda hard to find. |

Awesome car. I would have picked different wheels, but still think the car is cool.
Some need to get over the GTO is a God, so dont' screw with it. LOL!

Thats looks a lot like my 70 GTO did last year (paint is better). My tires are wider, and have more sidewall, but its close. Wheels arent my cup of tea either, but overall I like the look. As for the power train...MMMMMMMMMM, definitely not.
Mine is all apart now, on the way to the next level. Which will start with a custom frame from Art Morrison. Think LOW. No....lower. Tires...think wide. Nope.....WIDER! As for chopping up GTO's..... Now where did that plasma cutter get to. |

Yeah, Im kinda on the fence about using the corporate motor.
They sure do pack some punch and cruise rather nice with ac on though. Pricey still for wrecked LS2 motors, but 500+ HP is easy to hit. |

Neat idea and great work to pull it off. What the new GTO should have looked like? Debate will rage on...Nothing Foose would have done better except shave the door handles?
