Default DO NOT USE NU-CHROME

 I dont want to make this too long so I will give you the short version. I called Nu-chrom in MA asking to get my 67 GTO bumper re-chromed. I was told it would be 4-6 weeks beacuase I beat the "rush" I made it clear I had a concourse car and wanted the best quality and was given a price of $550. I sent the bumper the very next day( 1/27/06) and UPS confirmed it was delevered 1/30/06. After 6 weeks (03/13/06) I called and was told my bumper was not even unpacked yet and also that the price was now $1,200. I was "promised" it would be done in two weeks. Two weeks later still no bumper. On Friday 04/07/06 I was told the bumper would ship on
Monday 04/10/06 and I needed to pay in full, so I did. I was told the reason it was taking so long was because he wanted it to come out "Cherry" and their first attempt didnt meet quality standards. Again, to make this short, I did not recieve the bumper until May 8 ....14 weeks after I sent it. To be a little fair the quality was good but not at all "cherry" and not worth the $1,200 I paid for it. Keep away, they lie, lie, lie

Unless the bumper was beat to hell, $550 to rechrome is very high. $1200 is highway robbery. Why did it end up being double their original estimate? For that price it should be worthy of a 100 point car...

I couldn't get any reply from Tri City plating. Do they have more business than they can handle?

I used nuchrome to do both bumpers, the head light doors, the tail piece and tail lights on my 65 GTO. The final result was excellent although the front bumper had to be done twice and they are slow. The car has won two golds since the chrome was done.

I used Pauls Chrome on a 72 T/A rear bumper, headlamp bezels, turn sig bezels, and the leading edge of the grill. I can't believe how good it looks. I can't find a flaw in them, even the back of the pieces look correct. The total came to $1950.00 but well worth it. I was promised it would take about 6-8 weeks and I got them back in 9.

I would highly reccommend them.

The bumper was in perfect condition as far as dents or dings, even the chrome was nice but a little faded in some area's. The reason his price jumped to $1,200 was because the $550 I was originally told was for "good quality" not "show quality" even through I was clear I was after show quality.

Northstar Plating in MN. did both my front and rear bumpers from my 66 Lemans for $850. plus shipping They look better than anything I've seen from other shops. All they do is bumpers, and have original jigs to repair dents.

I also had my 67 front and rear done by Northstar in MN. They are a division of Keystone. Mine were done about 2-1/2 years ago for $750 for the pair. I delivered them, they shipped to me for that price. I think they look good

Metal Brite in Dayton OH, 937.278.9739 High quality, strong service, good prices. They've done virtually every piece of bright work on my car including the stainless which they polished.

I have had nothing but problems with Nu-Chrome. Nothing but issues with them.

Whom do you suggest? Everyone I've spoken to is in that ballpark. Do you have someone to use with great results for less?

I'd like to know ... I have a lot of items to be done .... Thanks
