Default headrests - easy to add?

does anyone know how easy headrests are to add?

are all bucket seats made such that you can easily add them, or do you need to start with a bucket seat that had the provisions for a headrest?

(i assume you'd have to add the escucheons and whatnot)

but, is there a channel they'll go down into, or what?

mine aren't original headrest seats, but i'd like to make them so

It probably depends on the year of the seat, but I'm pretty sure you can add headrests to most of them. PY even has a kit for it. I don't have the catalog in front of me, but I know its there. I was going to do that and ended up just going with newer seats. I've got a set of headrests that I'd let go cheap. $40 + Shipping. They do have a couple cracks though... (blue)

Not exactly sure. I never got around to working with them and/or figuring out what the differences are. The underside of them is pretty 'curved', but they seemed to sit on my seats OK. Unfortunately those seats were in a '67 and I can't vouch for what year the seats were. (Not a lot of info, am I?)

Drop me your e-mail and I'll send you a couple pictures of them.

Did you look in PY for that kit?

I had a 66 with headrests. I wanted to say that there were no major differences, but couldn' t say for sure. I found this post, and evidently someone has added them before.

66-67 bucket seat headrests are the same. It is a totally bolt-on system that can be removed or added. Henry

I tried adding them on my 67, and the shop couldn't figure out how. The instructions that were included were crap.
