Default Ram Air IV Horsepower

I have seen several references to the fact that the Ram Air IV motor was "seriously underrated" at 370 hp. Does anyone know what was the actual hp produced by the Ram Air IV?

Just had one dyno'd in nhra stock trim(65 cc heads) through the manifolds it produced 424hp. @5300 rpm

Default Sounds about right...

for a 400 inch engine with relatively mild components. A 396/375 Chevelle will do @ 450 out of the crate, and that very same emgine was rated at 425 in anything but a Chevelle. Similar mods...decent flowing heads, stiff, streetable cam, aluminum high rise intake and 750/800 cfm carb.

Bruno lives in Canada so the snow usually hides the color anyway. And at night it probably looks black...if the moon isn't out.

Bruno-I have a 69 Judge in midnight green with a black interior. I really like the color even if we don't get any respect on this board.

424 hp was at the flywheel on a "sad" dyno as the engine builder calls it.
I chirped that I thought the number was a little off too.

He wants the motor to "run in" before he gives it a more aggressive tune up.

I just wanna spank her through the gears friday and get as much seat time as I can before the upcoming factory stock races this year.

.........and go figure......I hate green cars and end up with 3 69's!
midnight ra iv
limelight ra iii
verdoro ra vi judge

will trade for expresso brown!

I want all the undesirables!

Wasn't there a 69 midnight gree RAIV car auctioned off by a police dept. in Miami last year? I seem to recall a thread about this car. Bruno, did your car come from Florida?

I saw that one too! My car is originally from winnipeg ,Manitoba.

I've spoken with the second owner but have never talked to the original owner.

It was supposedly raced every weekend and Milt Schornack recalls selling parts
and sharing info with the owner.

Whatever happened to that govt auction car?
