Default electric choke to non?????

I have a 69 gto with a 400. It has a holly 650 on it now with a electric choke. The carb is in need of a rebuild. My friend gave me a new edelbrock 650 that bolts right up. My only question is that what and how do I convert a electric choke to a manual choke. Or do I even want to. Also what tells the electric choke to turn on. Just curious. Thanks

the electric choke uses a small electric heater inside the choke housing

when the key is turned on the electric heater heats the bi metalic spring and
realease the choke

in terms of the carbitself, it depends on which carb you're asking about.
in general terms, you just need a manual choke cable kit, which holley and a variety of oterh brands make.
if i recall, the holley # is 12-37, but dont go by that w/o checking.
i carry them at my shop; you can pick one up off0shelf at your local speedshop if it's worth half a bean

Just run a hot wire from a key on source to the choke and be done with it.
Electric chokes are great...tap the gas, and fire it off and dont worry about having to keep the idle up till car warms up all the way...you can just get in it and go.
Keep it....If not Let me have it :P

Route the power through a 3-terminal oil pressure switch, so the choke does NOT get power unless the engine has oil pressure.

Keeps the choke from warming prematurely if the engine should stall.

and when it reaches its temp the di electric spring shuts off the electric choke. It doesnt draw any power once engine is warmed up unless its -20 and your doing 55 and theres a breeze on the choke housing.
