Default I need help with my 9" install!

I have a moser bolt in 9" for my 70 T/A. I am running cal tracs and the WS6 multi leaf springs. The stock upper rubber that goes in between the spring the rear doesn't fit anymore due to the moser spring perch. With this eliminated the cal trac bottom section doesn't squeeze the spring in place anymore when I tighten the u bolts. Air gap. I can't call Moser because they are closed. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

Yes I also have a 9" moser just installed in my 68 bird, you will have to buy a new set of spring pads, I just bought mine for summit 2 days ago, the part number is ENS-3-6112G ( made for 67-69 camaros and firebirds). Thses are for spring perches that are flat not like the ones for a 1970 and up that are made with a raised center on the top pads which matches the grove on the 1970 and up perches.

I was told by Travis NOT to use the pads w/ the Caltracs. That's how my setup is.

Do not use the rubber pads. Make some spacers out of metal.

Yep, get yourself some aluminum and cut the spacers.

I made aluminum blocks also...I have multi-leaf perches, but I am running mono-leaf springs, I needed to take up some space...

If you still end up with a gap, use rubber gasket sheet, its hard and doesent flex too much...

A bonus to the spacer is it can be used to adjust ride height, put is above the spring and it lowers ride height, put it below the spring and it will raise the ride height by the sme amount as its thickness...

Those who posted got it right.

Got the same answer from John when we called. There's to be no rubber in the spring mount.

Also we added a steel strap from the back of the perch to the axle tube to prevent it from eventually looking like a rocking chair.

You MUST have the straps welded onto the axle tubes. My neighbor has a '69 Camaro with a Moser 12 bolt and twisted the spring perches. No damage done but he then welded on the straps and problem solved.

The attached prictures are of my 12 bolt. The spring perches have the straps welded from the perches to the axle tubes. I also installed Ford 9 inch spring perches as per the recommendation of John Calvert and others that did this work before me. I however use the mono leaf spring rather than the multi leaf spring.

That's pretty much how mine ended up,except mine used a stock multi-leaf perch and landrum multi-leaf "drag" spring,I have pictures of the first mock-up with the isolator, when it became obvious it was'nt going to work that way,but dont have any of the final assembly.

But the perch brace is pretty much the same as Ron's,and on mine I had the tubes welded to the center section as well.

The spacer on mine worked pretty much just like 455firebird1969's set-up for the most part, except for the order of assembly on mine,I did mine with the rear end mounted solidly via the multi-leaf perch then the spring with an appx. 1/2" thick spacer to take up the extra space on the underside of the spring.

The odds and ends are mapped out in more detail in the linked thread.

call caltracs and they'll give you the exact size to make
your spacers..... i did this and it saved me alot of time and
trouble............I went to a machine shop......made the spacers
and I was done with the problem. caltracs told me that if you
have an original mono leaf car you must make the spacer to
run their leafs.

IIRC John C. recommended the rancho 9000 adjustables when I bought mine, but many others I've talked to are running shocks like the better adjustable ones from HAL or such.

I wound up using the CE 3 way adjustables, set at the 50/50 setting, but feel a better adjustable shock would have helped some.
