I have 2 Rollmaster timing sets, setup with the roller bearing cam plate, on the shelf and ready to ship. I have 1 Standard length, and 1 .004 shorter for line honed blocks. Price is $250 for either set. That includes shipping to the lower 48 states.

I'm definitely interested in your setup, Scott.
Do you recommend the chain over gears for street/strip use? I'm curious as to the difference between chain stretch and gear wear over time as well as any possible issues with harmonics from a gear drive. |

thanks for the interest!
To answer you questions, I like the chain set up better than the gear setup for one reason... machinability! While Iam sure that the gear setup works very well, to machine it can be a real pain for setting it up for a roller bearing cam plate. The gear setup is hardened and can be quite difficult to machine for my cam plate. It can be done, but it takes longer to do. Its also more expensive to the customer that supplies the gear setup to me to be machined. I will machine your existing timing set for $150 plus shipping (chain timing set) and $225 plus shipping for a gear setup. The chain setup is (in my opinion) quieter. Even the quiet gear setup has some "whine" to it. And some people like that. Its what pleases you that matters. Thats what counts. Thanks for the interest.... Yeah, I like alittle bit of a whine from them, but I don't think I need to shell out another $250 for the gear set on top of machine work on it for your bearing setup. I should have the block figured out in a few days so I can order the right chain set from you.

still have some in stock?
not sure yet, but i may be interested soon...problem is that the engine is already built, and cam degreed, but only has 20 minuted of break in time on it. gear set is an Erson, and if i remember right, the gear is cast. |

I really have to tip my hat to guys like Scoot, BOP, Ken and several others, who go to the trouble to make new products for the Pontiac. Seems like a great idea to me.
I have several plates in storage that have A LOT of wear on them. If nothing else, this would mean less metal in my oil. I am really, REALLY thinking about the Polymer Distributor Gear for the same reason. Less metal and less wear overall. I never really embraced the ploymer thing. All out officers carry the Glock, but I still carry a Colt 1911 .45 Automatic because I like steel. Guess I am really an old dinosaur after all...Robert |
