I decided to rip out the 40 year old interior from my 69 firebird which had been dyed bright white and replace it with the correct M27 Parchment interior.

The parchment is an off-white with a golden hue. The trim paint is a 2 step process, a bright white with the golden overspray to give it the proper color.

The correct paint, or so I was led to believe, is a Omni-Pac Master blend. I put on one base coat of a very white paint and several of the top coats hoping to get the proper tone.

I put the seat back on and it looks terrible. Not even close to the new vinyl seat color. I have seat backs and numerous other parts including the side panels for the back seat to paint.

I am not a happy camper, and the wife, well she looked at me and said.. it too white, doesn't match and how much have we spent....?

Any thoughts or ideas would be appricieated.

My first attempt I guess will be to try and find an off white undercoat.

Been there...here's the solution:

Ford's Wimbledon white (available in Duplicolor) spray cans is what I (and several others used) - part number T205. It is a great match to the "cream" colored base. Topcoat it with the paint from Year One or whoever carries that. You'll get a near exact match to the color and sheen on your upholstery and door panels.

yep, I bought a can of Duplicolor, a shade darker than the Wimbeldon white, and it looks good now.

The pearl topcoat is what changes the white to cream.You can take it to a paint store to get it matched and then do this.Make a test panel about 5-6 inches long by about 3 inches.prep it good and put on the white base then take 3/4 inc tape and run lines of it until it is all covered except the last inch or so.Put on one coat of pearl,remove a row of tape,spray another coat of pearl keep doing this and when you are done removing tape ,the line where you started will have the most coats of pearl and the last will only have one.It is a pita but this is the way painters have to match pearl jobs on factory cars,very time consuming.
