Welcome aboard Rick!

Saw your car at Dayton last year for the few minutes it was outside. I'm a friend of Scott.

Beautiful piece!

Default Bio on my 73 SD Formula

Sure thing, 23k original miles, only options were Deluxe interior, SD455,
4-spd, radio delete, no guages, no console .The dog dish hub caps are
correct and original. It was delivered overseas ( I think Germany ) in July of
1973. When I purchased the car it was a real nice original car with 1 repaint
and the original motor. I had a frame-off resto done by Scott Tiemann in
MI completed in August of last year.

My current restoration project is a 4-Spd Blue 1970 RA IV T/A , hope to
have it at the T/A Nationals this August.

Ben;
thanks for sharing the pictures, and giving some info on your car - I have one picture of it going into a trailer from the TA nats last year...

It sounds like you have a nice little collection...

Are you bringing the 1970 and the 1973 Firebirds to the nationals this year?? - I am planning on going (1st time, and a long drive from home!)

Question

Rick, PLEASE don't take this the wrong way, but I could have sworn that a fellow in Michigan with the intials of D. A. had that exact car for sale a couple of months back.

Can't be too many Maroon poverty cap '73 SD Formulas around, LOL!

Lloyd,

I remember a 73 SD Formula that was advertised on Classical Pontiac about 3 months ago. It was a "poverty cap" car, but was admiralty blue with a white standard interior and an automatic trans. The owner was in MI, and I think his last name was Anderson. This is not the same car.

There were 7 maroon (florentine red) SD Formulas out of the 43 cars built in 73.

Of the 43 cars, 13 came with the standard poverty caps, 23 had Rally II wheels (N98), and 7 had the Honeycomb wheels (P05). Interestingly, none of the 43 Formulas were ordered with either of the full wheel cover options: deluxe (P01) or custom finned (P02).

The owner of the car pictured above is an old friend. I visited Tiemann's shop with him when it was nearly completed, that's me in the striped shirt standing behind the car in the last picture. Fortunately my face is not visible!

Here is something you don't see everyday....three lucerne blue TAs in a row. This is from the POCI Puget sound chapter show in Puyallup WA in 2001. My car is in the middle, Bill Nelson's 70 is in the foreground, and Larry Moore's car is in the background.

MY BAD!

Sorry 'bout that Rick, and thanks for setting me straight toomanybirds!

I suppose I saw a '73 SD Formula w/ moon caps and forgot the color. Both are gorgeous cars, but Rick's Florentine Red one is simply stunning.

I'm JEALOUS.
