Default oil leak

Ok I have 300 miles on my completely rebuilt 400 4sp. Getting a small puddle of oil (about 2 thimbles) below the rear main of the engine. Engine was rebuilt by Jasper performance div. and a 280 comp cam added. Runs great.

I am told "dont worry yet, the leak may go away by itself, it is common when breaking in new engines. Try changing the oil."

Anybody have anything to add?

Do you have a functional PVC?

What type of rear seal did you install? BOP or rope?

Jasper tells me its a neoprene seal. No more rope as of a couple years ago. The Pcv I will check tonight. Thats a good suggestion. May just pop another in to be sure. Jasper confirms it takes about 500 to 750 miles to fully seat. lets hope

In my 38 years on this earth, I have never had a leak go away by itself. I think your stuck with it until you fix it. Usually requires pulling engine.

Could it be the oil pan and not the rear main seal?

Those three prong rubber rear pan seals are notorious leakers,if thats what they used,my money would be on that being your culprit here.

wipe behind , with clean fingers, both valve covers. If you get any wetness of oil, that is where its comming from.

The pcv valve is good, if it clicks when you shake it.
