I know Pontiac Built the 88 RA IV TAs VERY late in the 1970 model year (June-August 1970). Is that also true for 1970 GTOS and Judges? Does anyone know of any August build RA IV 1970 GTO/Judges out there? Or, know for a fact that PMD stopped GTO or Judge production by a certain date in 1970?

I'd like to pinpoint the last RA IV Pontiac ever built, if possible. Is it safe to asssume it would have had to have been a 1970 RA IV TA?

I have a PHS on a '70 TA RA IV dated 7-24-70. It's the latest date I can find in my folder of PHS docs.

Thanks..the 70 RA IV TAs are well documented...all vins...all ship dates..the big remaining question is how late were ra iv Judges and GTOS built in 1970s...July or later? Or did A body production end earlier than that in 1970?

Paul Zazarine's article in the April '05 Musclecar Enthusiast shows the shipping dates for all RA IV Trans Ams. The latest shipping dates were for two cars shipped in Feb '71. One was shipped on 2/10/71 and the other on 2/20/71. I can't figure out why they were shipped so late.

He goes on to say that the RA IV T/A's were built in a six week period in period in Van Nuys and a nine week period in Norwood beginning July 3, 1970. The article didn't include any info on RA IV GTO's.

The 70 RAIV blue TA that was shipped so late was a zone car. I got it for a friend some yrs ago. I believe the last raiv TA built was in Aug. Most all 70s built in july. Mine is a mid july car.

Default One RAIV TA BUILT FOR CANADA !!!

And I may know where it is if the guy still got it !!! I almost bought it around 5 years ago but did not have Pete MaCarthy's bible at the time and thought it was a 70 RAIII TA. The car is pretty to very rough shape and missing the original engine but still has the 3:73 12 bolt posi in it and the original turbo 400 trany ! Somebody put a 350 in it. NEEDS TOTAL RESTO but is worth every pennies if somebody has the time and money out there, once done thet car would be worth over 100gran ! The story was the couple on VANCOUVER ISLAND CANADA went trough divorce and the ex-wife ended up with the car and sold it for 2500$cad !!! The guy who bought it showed me in the book the vin# that matched the one on the Transam ONE BUILT FOR CANADA !!! I know where the car is if somebody out there is interested and if the owner still got it . Anyway Email me I still got the guy's phone # if he hasn't moved, last time I talk to him around 4 yrs ago he told me he would sell it for 10000 $ usd. What a rare car !!! Car is sitting under a tarp and sheltered in the dude's backward. He had no money to restore it and may still don't !

I'd be interested in learning more about this car as well. Have an SR '70 RA IV that needs a home and would rather put it in an original IV car. If I don't find one, it's going in my '70 (RA III).

there is more than one that came to canada...
I had two (unrelated) sources give me the same story...
supposedly it was a car originally ordered for a dealer in southern alberta - to sum it up the last time it was observed (by both parties) was some time after the owner took it for a drunken drive into a ditch... front to back it was supposed to be "u" shaped after that excursion...

One of those sources is a current owner of a 455HO T/A, the other currently owns a SD455 T/A... both of those cars herald from the same region as the aforementioned LS1 T/A...

BUT! - it might still be around; there is a gentleman I spoke with in 2003 who lived in central alberta, he was midst restoring a legit (so he said) LS1 T/A...

Does anyone know how many of the eighty-eight LS1 T/A's have been accounted for?
