I posted this in the Lobby, but a lot of the racers don't go there. The details are in "Phoenix Weekend Results - Long".

The summary is that I won bracket 1 in the Pontiac Heaven Drags on Saturday at Speedworld in Phoenix. I also won Bracket 1 in the Muscle Car Heaven Drags on Sunday. There were five race categories, and Pontiacs won all five of them on Sunday, where all makes could be entered. It was an amazing weekend for me, especially since my biggest concern was losing in the first round.

Scott - It is a good thing I bought those wires along with the cap. The final diagnosis of my ignition problems looks like the 7AL eats up spark plug wires. Bill Takanabe told me that his car eats them every 6 months. Mine have been in 2 1/2 years, and my symptoms look like that could be it. It was quite a challenge staying on top of the plug issues between rounds. Having Herdsman there to help was a life saver.

I'm glad the wires worked. I've never heard of the boxes having any type of effect on the wires. Hot Rod has them on his car for several years now with the 7AL & no problems.

Bill uses the MSD red wires. Those last him 6 months with the MSD 7AL. I used the Taylor 10.4 mm wires. They lasted me about 2 1/2 years, or almost 200 runs. I hope to replace them this week. I will ohm out the old and the new wires then. I guess the 7AL just eats wires faster.

Anyone else have that experience?

OMT,

Not lucky, just good. Isn't it fun to mow them down one after one.

I also went to the track Sunday for a Muscle
Car Race. After being confined to the house since March 9th and feeling better (about 80 percent) I just had to go race. I entered two classes and went three rounds in one before losing and was down to three cars in the fast class. As traction was bad and a strong headwind, I could only run 7.60's but fairly consistent. On all the runs I dialed a 7.64. I lined up against a 6.75 car and he was around me in no time. Back at the pits they were yelling at me because the track dialed me in at 7.14 instead of 7.64 and I didn't see scoreboard as it was downtrack and the sun shining in my eyes. Anyway, I still won Semi.

Congrats Jim! You really had a great weekend, puttin' the hurt on the Pontiacs as well as all the other makes. Wish I could have been there to see it. See ya at the races.

Let's go racing!

Floyd - Great job! That is a bummer about the dial in. How long will it be before we reach our peaks?

A mans gotta know his limitations!

My Rig's a little old, but that don't mean she's slow.
