just picked up a 67 Firebird and making up a parts list this seems to be the floor brace the factory traction bar hooks to under the rear seat drivers side. The passenger side looks fine. does any one know if this piece is avalible or will I have to just start welding?

They are very hard to come by used. I would repair the one you have.

Thanks for the reply John, This is a 400 4 speed car, the original 400 has been replaced with a '71 455 I think I'll weld a plate in to be safe. Also I've heard it,s the other side that takes most of the abuse, any thoughts? 3.36
posi by the axle code if that makes a difference.

Eman,

My car is also a 400 4spd, but I don't know how well the bars work as I've yet to get mine on the road. I would agree that the passenger side would take most of the load.

If you increase power over factory, or drive hard alot with a MT, you will need to reinforce that area anyway. I know fist hand I used a big 3/16 thick plate on both sides after one brace pulled a chunk of floor out. I knew one guy that had to run a brace all the way across

Anyone know where you can get the bushing for the traction bar?

PST makes the bushings and Steele Rubber makes the snubber. The bushings are the same as for the '67 Camaro. If you scroll about 2/3 of the way down here: bushings

you will get some details and the links to the above companies.
