If you like the simplicity of a hydrualic, I used to use a Comp Cam 305H magnum hydraulic for years (16 to be exact) it was a great piece and ran consistent.

I did not see that you stated that the car weighed 3,000lbs. Did you try shifting higher, with the cam I stated we shifted the car at 5900. We would probably lose 2mph by shifting at 5200.

Too bad Crane doesn't make the Commander series anymore. I had the about the same performance with that cam in a very simular application. Cranes powermax series won't cut it. I think a Comp xtreme energy cam with the same .050" dur. size would work well, like the xe284 or XE294. I currently have a Lunati SPC1-320, 245/255 AT .050",.510" intake lift, .533"exhaust lift. They also have a custom grind with the same duration at .050", but more lift. You could call Uldradyne and ask for Harold, as he has always done very well picking grinds for me. He just did one for a friend of mine's 350 olds, and that thing made over 400lbs of torque at 2500rpm! We couldn't believe how much stronger that thing is compared to the old cam from mondello.

Its a 73 Ventura that weighs 3550 with a 400 bored 30. The shortblock is basically stock except for the TRW pistons. Heads or port 62s that flow 240. Intake is a RPM with a 850 holley. The headers are 1 3/4 running into 2 1/2 exhaust. The trans is TH350 with a 3200 stall convertor and 3.73 gears. We have ran 11.88 in 1/4. We will be changing somethings is the shortblock and suspension for next year and hope to run 11.7 with the same cam and heads.
