If ya' want to realize more lift, it's ok & cheaper/easier than a cam change.
You'll have to elongate the slot in your heads to accomodate the increase movement. That will require removing the heads at the very least.

If you have .488" lift with 1.5/1 rockers, a true 1.65 will give you. a 536" lift. A Harland Sharp may give you about a .560" lift, so be sure to check valve to piston clearance as well as elongating the push rod slots.

Are the 1.5 Harland Sharps more than 1.5 just like the 1.65's?

Adding 1.65 rockers will add effective duration and act much like changing to a slightly larger camshaft. On the dyno I've witnessed 20-30hp increases with this modification alone. Besides checking pushrod clearance, you must make sure the valvesprings can handle the additional lift. You must also check valve seal to retainer clearance. It is also wise to check rocker arm to retainer clearance and do a quick check of the valvetrain geometry to see if longer pushrods are needed....Cliff

Yes they are, I believe they end up being 1.55

What would be the indication that you needed longer push rods? How to check and determine length needed?

Phil

If the rocker tip is not contacting the valve tip properly during the lift cycle. You can check by loosening a rocker and coloring the valve tip with felt marker. Then reset the rocker and run the assembly through the lift cycle a couple times. Loosen the rocker and check your pattern. It should be more or less centered on the tip. To much to either side indicates a need for longer/shorter pushrods depending.

WARPed - I'm using an Ultradtne 288/296 Hyd cam. The lift is .485/.507. What would the true lift be? What's the math equation look like?

Thanks

To go from 1.5 to 1.65 multiply by 1.1 (SHort way)
Or go the long way.. divide your lift by 1.5 (current rocker ratio) to get the lobe lift. Then multiply by the new ratio..

1.13 for 1.5 to 1.7 rockers (HS 1.65 rockers)
