hi guys
i just received my oil pump from summit, the
box says M-54D-S, but the tag attached to
one of the bolts on the bottom plate says
M54D. this would be the wrong pump considering i wanted the 60lb pump? the M54D is a 40lb pump? would this be correct? has anyone else had this problem?
also does anyone have a part number for hardened oil pump drive? melling catalog list 2 dis-54 and dis-54a. my local part supplier price list only has 54a, and at about $15.00 canadian it just seems to cheep to be the harden shaft.
thanks
mark

Mark, You got the right part. M54DS=W/pick-up screen, M54D= w/out screen. The hardened shaft p/n is DIS-54A, I think I paid about $10.00 or so (U.S,). Ace @ Pacific Performance Racing has them, his # is 310-832-4596. Hope this helps.

...yet just another reason why I prefer used oil pumps over new ones.

Used oil pumps; you know what the oil pressure should be at engine cold and hot. Thus, a new motor's healty is readily assessed.

Other new vs old comparisons are just knowns vs unknowns.
