I can't seem to get an answer on this topic at all from anyone, but I'm gonna try here on this board. Can ANYONE tell me if the factory GM horns can be repaired, if so how, and what is the tiny little knob for? Thanks...Gary

the tiny knob is for pitch adjustment. as for repair lol. btw; a sharp rap with a hammer while the horn button is pressed will sometimes encourage the horn to function again. mike

Hosed out my 69Bird High-note horn and let it dry in the sunshine for several days - no real improvement - still sounds raspy. Like the idea of whacking it while its blaring, to see if it clears out.

I don't get many opportunities to smack something into working shape.

Obviously no one has had the opportunity to repair GM horns. Oh well. Thanks for the replies anyway. I really hate to use those ugly one sided replacements. Take care. Gary

68Birds is right, the GM(Delco) replacements are kind-of funky looking. I can't believe most vendors that specialize in used parts wouldn't have a bunch of tested original horns. Most GM cars used that same 2 note combination in the sixties and seventies. BTW, for the perfectionist, originals were date coded.

Yea, the flat-plate horn is uuglee enough for me to consider the late-model horns.

Misus did some research on this and suggested [to me] that the recent Dodge horns have quite impressive sound. He has a couple, said he'd dig them up. [stores them in a Catalina trunk, so there long gone]

For that matter, his F350 horns can shock the droopings out of slow-crossing Canadian geese.

Check Hemmings in the Corvette Services section. There used to be horn repair advertisements in there. Good luck!

Wow!!! I see my question finally recv'd some serious reflection. Did anyone notice, especially, on ebay how high priced some of the original GM horns can go for? Their not going to get my first born for sure, besides he's too old. Hey Chris, where are the date codes? Thanks...Gary
