What have your experiences been using both types of spacers on an RPM intake. I have room for either Edelbrock's 3/4" open wood spacer or their 1/2" divided or open spacer - also from wood.

Any carb spacer results would be appreciated, RPM intake or not.

I tried both a 1" open spacer on a torker and a 2"open spacer. I picked up a little with the 1 " and a little more with the 2"

Probrd,
How much did you pick up in e.t. when say "a little?" |

It's been a long time since I have run anything but a 2" spacer. I usually keep very good records of every pass I make. I'll have to go back and look at log books from several years ago and see if I can find it. I don't want to mislead you so I won't say for sure until I find it.

Don't know about on the RPM but a 1/2" spacer on my HO intake on a RAIV 400 added 8hp. 1/2 " was all that would fit with the Shaker so I didn't try taller.

Skip, was that an open 1/2" spacer you used?
Was that a Holley or Q-jet you were using? |

71TA-- I really don't think this is something you can find the answer to by consensus! You must try every possible configuration on your own unique setup to see what works the best for you. Even using reason will often fail you when using carb spacers, that is, the one you think or feel must work better often does not! Just give it a try, make your own out of wood, super cheap and easy!

Mine was a 4 hole Q jet.
I think as others said and Wilson intakes suggests -you just have to try them. Sometimes the dyno won't show you what it will do to how the car runs. A 4 hole stacked on an open spacer seem to work good om alot of motors too. Supposed to help stop rversion pulses to carb.

As OER and Skip states there is no cut and dried method. I have run three different motors and they acted differently with spacers. My 417cid/RPM likes a 1 open, the 467cid/victor likes the 1 cloverleaf best and my 505cid/victor for some reason likes a ½ four hole best
go figure.
