thanks todd. which of the after market gear swaps do you recommend? and yes it is the factory stock rear end and i would like to keep it that way. i really like the 'set up' that i have now for what i do with my gto. currently have the 3:55 ratio and it seems to work well on the freeway and 1/4 mile run however it is tempting to go with the 4:11 but i hate a high screaming motor on the freeway. thanks again todd.

try contacting lock-rite or one of their dealers . they produce a locker style rear diff that replaces the spider gears in your open carrier. this eliminates the setup unless you are changing the gear ratio. i know of two of these units in 4x4's and they work well.the only drawback is that there is a clicking noise when turning. this is similar to a ford detroit locker unit. hope this helps. mnixon
