I have received my Pertronix ll unit, along with new wires and Coil ll. My 1966 GTO, well....points stink. ANYBODY installed this type of unit? I am wary of attempting this install, maybe somebody with more confidence than I have. I have heard to remove distributor helps/simplifies install, but before you do, you should crank engine, or do something position wise, BEFORE you pull distributor.
Help?

I was just wondering, did you have a factory in-dash rally gauge tach in your car, and if so did it still work properly after you upgraded the ignition system?

I have the Pertronix in my 65 and the Rally tach works fine.

I have the Pertronix in my 64 GP and it works fine. I did pull the distributor out for ease of installation as my back is not as limber as it was 20 years ago. I also had the engine timing set to fire on #1 cylinder before removing the distributor.

You will enjoy it once it's in.
