I was test fitting my 14" rim today on my recent disc conversion and it looks like part of the caliper bracket is hitting the rim. I can still turn the wheel, but it drags on the caliper bracket. Keep in mind that I did test fit my 14" rim on a stock 69 Firebird with disc brakes and it fit fine. Also keep in mind that Inline tube says their kits fit on 14" wheels. Has anyone else ran into this problem. It's the kit for a 68 Firebird.

What type of rim are you using?

American Racing Outlaw I 14x7. I'd have to think they'd be for disc brakes since they are basically brand new.

yes, most newer rims have quite a bit of clearance- can you post pix?

I tried posting some pictures, but it says the size of the pictures is over the limit. I could email them.

sorry i was slow on that. glad you figured it out.
I know there are two kinds of bracket available, but dont know the difference except one is advertised as US made and the other is off shore. They may both be like yours. I cant be sure, but I think the stock ones dot curve awy from the rotor so much to get around the pin. There is supposed to be a left and right side bracket. There is probably enough metal there to grind some off without damage if it comes to that. That part of the bracket doesn't take the majority of the stress, but does help to keep down on pad taper and bent pins by spreading the stress of the floating caliper out horizontally instead of pivoting on one part of the bracket. Only repeated hard stops really create any problems without it, and it still stops fine. Some aftermarket brackets are missing that part entirely.

The weird thing is I tried my wheels on a 69 Firebird with stock disc brakes and they fit fine. Supposedly all the components in this kit are the same as stock?
