78TA 400,4sp,3:42 32,000miles
took block,assembly to machine shop today.guy said the cam has some wear and said i should get another.the cylinders are in are in good shape so stock pistons are gonna be used.he didnt seem to be a fan of bumping up compression.but said he could take some off the heads[6X #4]im fairly sure the cam was a comp.cams 292h,cran anti pump lifters,poly locks,doulble roller timing set.the car is being restored,so thats the reason for the rebuild .also performerRPM,600cfmperformer carb. any ideas???? |

I'm building a similar combo but with 9.5:1 compression, 750 Quadra-Jet, and the XE268 cam.
A 600CFM carb is a bit small unless you want best fuel economy. With lots of cams to select from, it is a tough choice to make. Check out the Summit 2801/Wolverine WG1169/Indian Adventures 60550, Nunzi 2041, Comp Cams, or the Ultradyne grinds. The Pontiac 9779068 with 1.65 rockers is good too.
