I'm closing a deal on front fenders for my 69 Firebird. The fenders have been restored, are in good condition, and are ready for paint. Price is $1,000 for the pair.

Waddya thing? Is it worth it?

One concern I have is for a little more money, perhaps $1,500 or so, I can buy a parts car with fenders, hood, and perhaps a few other goodies I need. Sure, the fenders will likely need some work, but it seems I would come out ahead on the $$.

Any thoughts are appreciated.....

Thanks,

John

The only NOS fenders I've run across in searching for a month or so are TWO GRAND.

I like my Firebird, but not THAT much ;-)

Jcruz ,
So that's $500 a fender . If they are perfect ......No rust , dents, dings and have been blasted to bare metal . Primed in the correct primer ie: self etching , epoxy etc . I would say $500 a piece is a fair price . If you went out and bought fenders that needed to be worked on you may have more money than that in them . The money you spend on patch panels , labor to install them , blasting , priming and block sanding , it all adds up way to quick . [/LIST]

Barry Martin at Sonic Motors sold me my NOS front fenders for $1500/pr. I know that's a wad but with all the road salt in Illinois you just can't find good pieces. I think they are going to reproduce them prettty soon.

I've seen the earlier posts about upcoming repo's and checked with CCASS -- I think they'll be a while, if at all.

Despite that, I just don't have a good "feel" on these fenders and I'm going to pass on the opportunity. I'll look for some others down the road.

Thanks everyone for the input!

John
