I have just bought a 69 firebird with a th 400 the car org i think had a powerglide trans in it , but was changed sometime ago the trans will not shift into 3rd gear but it does hit ever thing else. could anyone tell me where to begin looking for the problem.......?///

Does your shifter have D, 2 & 1 (or L)? Put your shifter in drive and get under the car and see if it is in second gear. The cable may just need to be adjusted.
