Definately grabbing that Edelbrock EFI system when it debues, but until then I need to get my goat running, just to get the suspension worked out, I am planning on running a carb setup for the rest of the year before converting to EFI, not looking for anything great, just cheap an reliable.

I got the Edelbrock 650 AVS and I wish I had gone witha Q-jet. I've got a bog when I "punch it" that I cannot seem to tune out. I've gone way past the recommended adjustment for the secondaries even and I cannot get rid of the bog.
If you get a Q-jet, it bolts right up to the stock manifold too.

Can't beat a well tuned Q-jet!

Usually I'm found working on my Pontiac. If you want to find me Look for the white picket fence and all the old Pontiacs parked outside. And the half dissembled engine sprawled all over the driveway!

....um, Quadrajet!

Sometimes you can get one for free. I did once from a friend.

Turned out to be from a '68 430 Buick. I bought a rebuild kit ($25) and a set of jets from HO Racing ($35 'garage sale' price) that were correct for my engine combo.

Ran easy mid to low 12s with it on an 8.6:1 compression 455, certainly the best $60 carb I ever owned!

Sounds pretty unanimous. I have an aftermarket Edelbrock Pontiac intake from the 1980's, just two large intake holes, is there anything specific I should be looking for in the Q jet to fit this? Should I be concerned about what it comes out?

I wish I had a Q-jet. I'm running my brothers 750 Edlebrock at the moment on my 455 equipped 77 T/A, and its a piece of junk. It won't idle, bogs off of idle, bogs under WOT acceleration...

I've got a 600 holley if anyone wants to trade for a decent Q-jet.

I think that's an oxymoron.

But, I'll go with the herd and say a Q is probably the best bet.

Buy it from someone that calls it a "quadrajunk"
They're much cheaper

I've been looking for a Q'jet for my 67 GTO, I aquired one last week that just came off a running engine, owner said he didn't like "Quadrajunks". Code number is 7029268. I'm sure I can use this but will probably be sending Cliff R. some emails soon about the application and rebuild. Cost for the carb, 1 case of Henry Weinhard's beer

I have a friend that has a Quadrajet that came off a vette, the bolt pattern didn't match my Edelbrock intake, are there Pontiac specific Qjet's?

Are you willing to part with your old carb Bill H.? I live in Clayton and I have lots of beer...

All the Q-jets use the same baseplate to intake manifold bolt pattern so there are no 'Pontiac specific' Q-jets as far as the bolt pattern is concerned.

The intake you tried to bolt it onto must be made only for square-bore carbs rather than the spread-bore Q-jet. Some intakes have both types of carb bolt patterns, the Edelbrock Performer is one.

If you are getting a bog and can't adjust the air flap enough to get rid of it. You might need to change over to a different hanger and/or secondary rods. Get a set with long tips or get a hanger with less height. The hanger closest to the letter "A" is the richest.
