'67 GTO original 400. This a cooling topic but more people in this area hoping to get answer soon running out daylight. How do you remove the fan from the pulley shaft with the spring like thing holding it on ?
Thanks, ER "Admit nothing, deny everything, and file counter charges." |

Sorry I'm alittle confused on the question. Are you talking about the fan clutch? And if so the fan blades unbolt from most assemblies on models of cars and then you replace the clutch assembly. As I said though I'm alittle confused on the question.

I removed the four bolts holding the fan to the clutch. I need to remove the clutch which has a spring on the center. Sorry for not being more specific.

If you're trying to get the pulley off the clutch just tap it with a rubber hammer. It's probably just rusted in place. If we're talking about the same thing, you can't get the fan off cuz the pulley is stuck to the clutch? So hit it with a hammer.

If you remove it can it be reused or do you have to replace it ?

Now we are talking about the fan clutch right? Really you can reuse any of it if it's good. Most cars have a pulley, on top of that is the clutch assembly, bolted to the water pump by 4 bolts. Then the fan is bolted to the back side of the clutch by 4 bolts. Undo the 8 bolts and everything should come apart with alittle lovin'
