Has anyone used any of the dropped spindles for their A body? The reason I'm asking is that I've done some work to the rear suspension and it sits a little lower than it did before.

Also, I've added aluminum heads, an aluminum manifold, a mini-starter, and moved the battery to the trunk. So the front end sits up a little higher than it did.

I know I can cut the spring but I don't want to do that. If I were to mess with the springs, I'd probably buy a set of Eibach springs, which bring the height down about 1".

I'm looking for at least two inches of height though. Has anyone had experience with dropped spindles?

I put Eibach's on the front of the Camaro below, and they were a 2" drop.

Don't know about Eibach's A body springs.

For my GTO I had Coil Spring Specialties make a custom set of rear coils for me. After putting in the "correct" rear springs in my convertible the rear just sat too low (typical for convertibles).

I asked CSS to make me a set .75" over stock, and that is exactly what I got.

If you ask them (or Eaton Spring) to make a set for a 2" drop in front, they can make those too.

Thanks. From what I can tell springs will be cheaper than replacing the spindles.

I put 2" drop spindles on my 67 GTO along with 1 " lowering springs from Hotchkis. Worked well but I had to convert to disc brakes up front so it was a little pricey but better off for the long haul.

Your car has a nice stance lowered like that.

My car already has the disc brakes up front so it wouldn't be as much of a deal for me. I'm getting a quote for some custom springs. If the price is right, I'll probably do that but it might not be a bad idea to do both like you did.

How did the ride characteristics change?

Hard to tell just what affect the springs and the drop spindles had on the ride characteristics because I redid the entire front end, all new bushings, shocks, tie rods etc.. What I do know is that it handles great now. Suspension is stiff but it corners like a dream. Jack

I have Hotchkis springs in front which should be about 1 1/2" lowered. The rear is at stock height now, but I am going to lower 1" with Hotchkis springs also. The ride with the lower springs in front is very good (even with low profile tires and poly bushings).

I have both drop spindles , and drop springs
on the front of my car....It sits too low
less than 2 1/2 inches between the headers and the ground. Im going to remove the springs in the next month or soo. If your interested let me know, They have no miles on them, only installed. Front and rear will be for sale. Rear is getting a ladder bar set up

Travis:

Hmmm... Too bad. I just ordered a custom set with a two inch drop from Coil Spring Specialties.

It is not a problem.... It is just a blood pressure monitor.

Thanks. It's several coats of candy apple over Cadilac firemist gold and yellow pearl. Paint was done in about 1982. It's far from perfect but looks pretty good for how long ago it was done. A former owner had a body shop and did it to show what he could do.
