Hey, I like your car. I've commented about it in other threads. But your car, again is nothing special to me. Just another 10 sec Pontiac.. big deal.. Plus, don't you think you should be in the 9's by now with all those hi-tech go fast goodies you have?

I'm like hell, nobody wanna get to me... But they do anyway's.

What "Hi tech" goodies would those be Nick?

300 CFM E-heads? They've been around for quite a while now. I could see if they were CNC'd or Wide ports, but just touched on E-heads?

A Victor intake? Same deal as the heads.

The 1974 block? Nah, can't be that, can it?

The Eagle crank? Hi Tech?

Must be the TH400 and the 12 bolt.....

When you run faster with my combination, THEN you can say its this or that. Untill then, I guess you'll have to take my word for it.

I'm like heaven, everybody wanna get to me.........

Ooops, I think I finally got it now, you must be talking about my 10 year old EFI system. That must be what it is. Hi Tech, huh?

Its amazing how far behind most enthusiasts are here..... I guess that's what happens when you never leave your home track, which in the D-port heros' case is what, 1300' below sea level?

LOL..

I'm like heaven, everybody wanna get to me.........

Back to badbirds car!

He claims he ran a number that some dispute!

couple things,

What benefit would badbird have by stating a false claim?

I witnessed a 3700# + 69 GTO with d-ports run a 10.90 at almost 130mph last week. nothing fancy at all!

Did'nt Marty Palbykin run in the low 7's/high 6's with a D-port motor?

My point is, anything is possible!

and even if he was full of it, who really cares!

hey JOE, that comment, in your terms is "BULL*****".......
torqjunki(Dave Sober from TEXAS) IS running on the heels of 130mph(129.???),low-low 10's ET, in a 3550lbs '69 bird, WITH 270cfm D-ports, NO ROLLER CAM and...NO NITROUS.

To be honest, I don't care. If that's what the car runs, then that's what the car runs. He's spent years and years to get it to do that and if that's his thing, more power to him. He told me that he was running 10's 30 years ago. Well, I guesss some folks don't like forward progress much. That's, again, his problem, not mine. He wanted to get into it, and he did. Mission accomplished. I know he's happy. I know I'm smiling.

Nick, don't try to patronize me either. You like my car, but its nothing special? Great, glad you finally realized it. The real challenges would be:

A. Building one faster with the same parts.
B. Finding exactly where I said my car was anything other than a 10 second GTO.

Although, I wasn't aware that an all motor, 10 second Pontiac with a stock suspension that uses mufflers was all that common. I guess I need to get out to the Nats to see for myself....But, wait a minute, I've been going there for the last two years.........

In short, I didn't build it for you, I built it for me. You think you can do better, stop typing and do it. I've been waiting for years for just one tough guy here to step up to the plate. Not one has yet. I guess I make it look easier than it realy is........

I'm like heaven, everybody wanna get to me.........

Well... I guess that's that then isn't it?

You have a pretty piss poor attitude towards others. Get off your hi horse.

Remember... "Pride commeth before the fall"

When I get there I will call you.

Enjoy your day..

Ditto what Larry N. said . . .

I've seen torqjunki's 'bird run - awesome performance for a d-port flat-tappet combo on the motor! Nothing really special - just a well thought out combination and lots of tuning.

I don't get Joe Allan's and Goatman's arguments.

I have had some very personal experiences with how well STREETABLE "old iron" can be made to run.

Just my .02 worth . . .

Just for my own curiosity, I would put a 1972 vintage stock intake on the car and run an equivalent height spacer, port match it to the heads and see what happens. I think it would be an interesting comparison. Then you could get back to finding a faster intake. But that would be just for my personal curiosity.

Nick, Bruce, Joe, and everyone:

To quote Herdswoman, if you guys were women and standing in the feminine hygene aisle at the supermarket, you'd be arguing about whose tampons were better.

Get over it!

Bruce, Joe:

You guys are getting your panties in a bunch over badbirds car because of that RPM intake. Did either of you ever stop to think about the WHOLE PACKAGE? Peak HP numbers don't mean a thing. What's important is, where is this engines powerband at? How is it geared to utilize this powerband?

An RPM intake "choking" the combination? Puh-leeeeeeese! Are the runners that much smaller than a T-2 or Nash intake? Nope, same size I think. And for the powerband badbird is in, it's obviously working.

21 whole passes on your car, Bruce? 15 of them on your current EFI combo? Let's see, that's 6 on your old carb combo? Gee, you sure do have alot of tuning experience. Report back after you've run it at least 21 more times and figured out how to get that Chubby Checker twist out of it.

And lastly, Jim Hand was balked at for running 11's in his wagon, because everyone "KNEW" that a R.A. IV cammed 455 with d-ports and a Q-Jet just couldn't run high 11's in a 4000 lb. vehicle. EVERYONE "KNEW" IT! Well, everyone was wrong.

This whole topic has been most entertaining, with a little technical info thrown in for good measure.
Its like stepping back in PY history, before GACH was banned from the board...

And here it is again for those who missed it:

You sure can tell that that car has exactly what he says it has from the video.....

Brian, I know I don't have alot of seat time in my car, but that means little. I've been around enough to know a few things.

Nick, save your bible thumping for someone who believes in fairy tales. I'm not interested and there is no boogy man.

Really? Bible thumping? Yeah right... That statement is quite true my friend. I would suggest you don't use "Heaven" in your tagline then.
