Just bought a '66 GTO with an engine that has the following numbers stamped on it.... 651553 YA. YA not YS.
Any ideas what this is? |

Good site, added it to my favorites. I was unable to determine what the engine was using their search but two people I emailed to have informed me it is either a '70 or '73 455.

Insert the YA in the engine code area on the search page.
Should come up with 14 different years that YA was used in. Including 1966 389 2 bbl.

That's why you have to find the date code back by the distributor. While you're back there, get the casting number right next to it. With the combination of casting number and date code, you'll be able to tell just what you have.
