Can't help you much with blocks and heads but you need to know about the "New Muncies". Gear Zone Co; website www.5speeds.com, now makes a NEW Muncie with an improved aluminum case and mid point support system. I'm getting mine in about a week to replace a rebuilt one that I had a problem with. The one I yanked out a year ago when I bought the car had two of the four casing/bellhousing ears totally broken off. Costs for the New Muncie is about $400 over my "rebuilt" costs. You ought to check them out. I'll let you know about my New Muncie's progress
