I guess I'm not real experienced with oil pumps and the sort. How does some one check an oil pump bypass ball? If I can do it easily, than I'll do it today! If I've gotta pull the engine I'm planning on going through it and making up grades. I just don't want to fix something if it's not really broken.

I have finally got the other oil pressure gauge in. That's the only good news there is. The oil pressure reading their is lowwer than the one off the filter. Not being an expert I'd guess she's done for. Anybody got a 455 they want to part with?

Andy, Did you have the press in oil galley plugs at the front of the block replaced with screw in plugs? If one of them popped out it would cause your pressure drop. Just grasping at straws!

I haven't had any luck finding a 455 in Kansas either. Clay Center Kansas isn't a Pontiac hot spot. As far as the oil plugs I didn't assemble the engine, but that does make since. I haven't dissassembled the engine yet, I'll be sure and check that first. I have about $2,000 to put into another engine. I have E-heads already so that's not a problem. I'd like to get good cam that opperates between 1,500 and 5,500. Then with a 2,500 stall converter I think I could go places. I also want to keep it somewhat streetable. For playing with the local "Chevy" guys. Any advice? I already have a turbo 350 w/3:73 gears in a Ventura.
