The other day I was thinking of this: I would buy the Flowmaster American Thunder system (I like the Pypes system, but a little too expensive for me) for my 68 Firebird, but I want to run Dynomax Ultra-Flos, and since the flowmaster 40 series and the ultra flos have the same case dimensions except for a 1/2inch height differential, I would put in the Dynomax mufflers and sell the mufflers Flowmaster gives me. Has anyone done this before? Do you think this will work?

Should work OK. If not you can always take it to a muffler shop and they can make the minor mods needed to make them fit.

huh?

FlowMaster American Thunder #FLO 17104

Summit $335.00 No X pipe 1 transverse muffler.
Pypes $315.00 X pipe 2 FlowMaster* 40 mufflers.

*plus you can sub any muffler for difference in muffler price.

FlowMaster- straight out the back tails.
Pypes- Turn down tailpipes already configured for chrome splitters.

Good find Mike, Sorry my bad. That's a great price for that system.

I will match that price and include our X pipe instead of the H if interested. I also think the FlowMasters will work well for your application unless you don't like their sound. Give us a call, maybe we can discuss.

Just noticed....but a warmed over, .030 over 350 is not a 360. It's more like a 354. Got one in my Lemans now.

69 GTO Clone - 350/350 with a 400 on the stand...It ain't pretty, but it runs!

Ccass: I will definitely consider that deal, and I wasn't trying to make fun of you or anything, just a little fun, but I still got a few weeks before I'll need an exhaust system, and I just like the Ultra-Flos sound better than the Flowmasters, and a lot of people around here got Flowmasters and with that x-pipe I sure would have a different sound.
-Thanks

I'm pretty sure its a 360. With a 3.75 stroke and a 3.91 bore. Go here and plug the numbers in http://home.fuse.net/rmsind1/ci_calc.html

oh and Jagtec1, the stock pontiac 350s were really 355ci. You may be thinking it would be the same as a Chevy 350 +.030 but the chevy 350 is really 349ci stock. Just a little info.

Doh!!! You're right! I'm wrong....but if a Pontiac 350 were actually a 350, I would have been right...Right? Anywhooo....I'll crawl back in my hole now! Let us know how you make out with the exhaust system, as I'm doing some debating of my own right now!

Jagtec1, is alright, but yea if it were really a 350 it would be about 354 or 355.

Hey Chris. I was just amping up to buy a flowmaster kit when I found this link looking for info.

I'd love to take you up on the offer. How do I contact ya? I'd be interested in trying the x-pipe configuration over my 8 year old H pipe local installed exhaust. I've grown tired of the Flowmasters and my exhaust has a lot of dents in it lol! Just ready to move on.
I do have long branch manifols too.

Ccass, would you match Summit's Flo 17129 for your system part# RFE93KQ2 with V tube mufflers? If so I'd be interested.
