pchris's link is to my engine. It's a street/strip setup, definately not built to be competitive with the racers. I'm finishing up my "winter" modifications which include better flowing heads, Victor intake, and adding power steering.

It should be done in a week to two then off to the dyno.

Cool, be sure to post up how it does. I am curious how it is going to run. I definately dig the setup. BTW, what size turbos are they? I didn't get a chance to read the whole thread yet.

Maybe if you weren't Tom Vaught.

They never listen to what I say anyway. LOL!

"I plan on going with the IA II. Are you saying I should go with the same bore and stroke as the Ford guys?"

It looks like you are investigating how to go fast with a turbo. A turbo
engine does not know if it has a Ford decal on it or a Pontiac decal on it.

Think about it. A guy with a Windzor block that will allow a 4.155 bore
runs 6.30s at well over 200 mph with a doorslammer vehicle. There is no one in Pontiacs history that ever ran 6.30s with ANY Pontiac race car. He did
this with Turbos. Rodney Butler may get there with his Tempest some day
if he gets it sorted out and built correctly. Steve Barchek may get there too.

Why would you not pay attention to what he was doing?

"I sure wish TFS would make some heads for a Pontiac. I want to see how well the Tiger and Bulldog heads perform once they come out. This is going to be an expensive project so it is going to take some time(so I can afford to wait)."

Expensive is right.

Quote:

"Plus, I have alot of homework to do. I have some Ford guys that like messing with different stuff backing me on this project and they are big into turbos."

One of Rodney Butler's secret weapons is Wayne Young and Alan Dudley.
A pair of very good Ford racers. Listen to your guys.

Quote:

"I mainly want to make sure I get the right/best stuff that the aftermarket offers for a Pontiac. Right now we are working on the chassis to keep the car straight, safe, and legal."

The IA-II block is good, the Butler Aluminum block would be better.

The rest of the parts could be purchased, including the heads but the heads
even on Rodneys engine are not up to BB CHEBBY levels. (500 cfm on the intake).

Keep plugging away at it.

What will the chassis be?

The car is a 73 Firebird. Mainly what I was wanting to know is what rotating assy I should go with. Because, if I am not mistaken, turbos like a short stroke. I just want to make sure I don't get some turbos that you have to spin 9000rpm to get max power out of, and find out my motor will only spin 7000rpm.lol

Ventura 7211: Yes, I will be planning on offering the F-2 for the masses. Takes time to make it fit all applications. That's why I'm waiting till I have the time. Super busy right now and just can keep up.
Even rushing trying to get my 428 back together with #197 H.O. heads and a D1SC ready for Norwalk.
To much compression for the D1SC with the IA engine I was running. I need a 120 cc Aluminum head.

People wanted the A/C with the P & D series option. Tried to make it work, but with the P.S. and Alt on the drivers side to much stuff to move around and still fit all body styles. It could be done, but might not fit all applications.
The F series will be made to fit the same A/C location.

You can take this to the bank.:

The Dude will be sportin a Blow thru setup with an F-2, in the low 8's on pump gas for 2005.

Chopper,

The turbos are TO4b's, V trim compressors, with P trim .96 turbines. The compressors are a bit small for my application but they will do for a while.

I'll post dyno charts when I get them.

I'm leaning towards building a new twin turbo motor for the tube car I'm building to enter our Street Eliminator class over here. I too was planning a centri blower setup, but after hearing about the belt failure problems and talking to a local racer who kept knocking out the bearings on his ATI, I've changed my mind.
I'm not planning on making massive HP as my car will be quite light,a pair of Airesearch T72's with a water/air charge cooler should give me an easy 900- 1000 hp and get me into the eight zeros, with some potential to improve later on. I'll post more details as I progress if anyone's interested.

I agree Taff!

Actually the T-72 turbos with a little more
boost will make about 700 each so 1400 hp
could move your little tube car right down the track. Good luck.

The Poly Chain belts for the centrifugal superchargers seem to work ok up to about
1400 hp and then they start shredding them pretty regularily.

Yes, I'll be making F series bracketry to fit any Pontiac Chassis this fall.
90% of the people that are going to run chargers on the street with a Pontiac Engine aren't going to have a belt issue and trying to make over 1000hp.

Guess we will see if there are issues making 1400hp with a ATI ProCharger and belts.
