I was putting the heads back on my 66 389 tonight and noticed i had 4 bent pushrods. Summit only list one pushrod for 1955-1979 engines. That can't be right. i checked against a set of 400 pushrods i had and they are way longer. What gives? can i switch to the 400 push rods with no problem or do i also have to use the 400 rockers too?

389 pushrod are shorter, I switched to 670 heads on my 389 block and had to go to the longer 400 pushrods. 62-67 are 8.687, 67-79 are 9.170. I know crane cams has them part# 28620-16.

I bought crower 8.700 thick wall moly rods for my 389 when I was running 389 heads. Worked fine with my .327 lobe lift cam.

Hey Franklin,

Summit and many other catalogs do not list all their parts in their catalogs. You have to call or search their website. Go to http://www.summitracing.com and at the top in key word search type in: Pontiac pushrods 389

The Crane pushrods for a 389 are the second ones listed. Jim

I got my crowers from a local speed shop here in Australia. You're best bet is to get them from Summit in the states.
