Pontiac powered land speed car closing today on BAT
I didn’t notice until this morning that this car was Pontiac powered. Turbo’d 4 banger out of an early Tempest- 3 speed transaxle too?
Looks pretty cool and the no reserve price is still downright cheap! https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...ign=2021-09-30

Front wheel drive, too. Pretty interesting.
edit: Looking through the pictures, it appears to have a conventional transmission connected to a quick change differential, not a transaxle. According to the time slips it's pretty fast too - nearly 200mph. Last edited by Stuart; 09-30-2021 at 10:55 AM. |

I'm getting "clock / date Time Error" notice pages on any bringatrailer page.
So someone may get the smoking deal on that speedster if others can't get on site to bid on it. |

Agree on the transmission and quick change. Did you notice Stuart the carb location? I saw the fuel line for what appeared to be a updraft airplane carburetor designed for boost. Would have likes to see the intake plumbing from the carb to the intake ports. Tom V.

A lot of aircraft gauges in the dash, too. Either the builders worked in the aero industry or they had access to a good surplus store.
Sold for $35,000. There was a big flurry of bids in the last half hour or so of the auction. |

Guessing the name came from people saying "Wow, that's really something!". That is a very unique vehicle.
