The Minneapolis police recovered our 69 GTO in a burned down garage in the 'bad' part of town. It was sitting on its belly -- no drive train, no rear end, no tires/wheels. Body and interior intact. Bought it back from the insurance company (but paid too damm much!).
Three weeks later the police got a tip about a young guy with a '71 Cutlass sporting a HOT pontiac engine. Yep -- mine. Recovered most parts from the engine compartment, converter and tranny, drive shaft, exhaust system, tires and wheels. Still no sign of the Ford 9 inch rear end Needless to say, we've got a LOT of work to do to get this car back into its GTOAA class-winning form. Thanks to ALL of you for your help and support through this trying time!

Glad to hear that you and Kathy got most of the drivetrain back now also. I still remember taking the pictures of Kathy roasting the tires in the burnout box at the Jim Wangers All Pontiac Drags. Need to see her do that AGAIN!!! |

Did they make the guy with the 71 Cutless confess to who he bought your engine from? Hopefully they can bring the scumbags to justice. Of course that will mean a slap on the wrist and probation. |

Well ... the kid that had the engine and drive train had a RECEIPT for the parts ($4500 for all of it).
the 'shop' that gave him the receipt sells wheels (in the questionable part of town. the informant said that the kid was planning to buy into this shop to launder his drug money of course, this 'shop' is conveniently out of business they HAVE charged the kid with possession of stolen property -- only slightly more than a wrist slap. not that it matters to this kid. i hear that his DAD is the state's #1 car thief ... and so the saga continues!

Kathy (my wife) and I decided it was too difficult to go through the painful (and costly) rebuilding process. So she sold it to her nephew (lives in Houston) who is now in the process of installing a drive train. She plans to "visit" her baby when she's down south visiting the rest of the 'family'. From both of us, thanks for all of your support!
