Bub,
I used Dupli-Color red oxide it’s a shade or two on the red side but when I put the low-gloss clear over the red oxide it looks closer to the original paint on the bottom of my car Thanks! Pat |

I finished the bottom of my T/A, what a pain in the backside! The question/request for today is. How is the lower edge of the rear tail panel shaped at each end where it meets the quarters? A picture of the bottom edge of the tail panel / valance would be great!
Thanks! Pat |

Pat, is this what you need, I took it last year at 'Firebirds on the lawn' so I could get mine right. Regards Bruce.

Yes that's what I'm looking for! How they bent the bottom edge to make room for the exhaust. Thanks! Any other pics would be great!

I converted my drivers side 1981 dated fender to look like a 72 T/A fender this weekend. Cut some rust out of the bottom right fender and welded a small patch in. Both fenders are ready for the body shop! I also would like to give a big thumbs up to Butler Performance for the great looking rotating assembly I received last week, Awesome stuff!

Pat Nice job on creativity on the fender.I would of proably went with more of a flat satin finish on the red oxide finish on the undercarriage, instead of the gloss finish, but it looks like its coming along fine.Your boy still giving you his expert assistance. |

Thanks, I used a low gloss clear and it very close to the original color and gloss that was under the seam sealer. I think the flash of the camera makes it look more like gloss? When I work with anything that puts out fumes I keep Kurt out of the garage, but when it’s time to put the motor back together he will be there! Pat |

Understand on the flash and on the fumes. This is the part I enjoy the most myself ,the restoration.Once its all done and I drive it a bit ,show it off,I am out looking for my next project.I get bored easy.Even at car shows I do not look at all the nice cars, just the pontiacs and the rare different cars like corvairs etcc....No disrespect to the other cars, they are all nice.

Just a suggestion or a heads up on the transmission tunnel, some firebirds came with some heavy undercoating spray'd in the top part of the tunnel and down somewhat on both sides.More of a sound proof for the tranny noise then anything.Your call wether you want to do that or not.

Here is the original trans tunnel in my 72. Nothing in the back section but a bunch of sloppily sprayed undercoating near the shifter opening,

I'm with you on enjoying the restoration more then using the car. I got back in to car two ago, rebuilding a 68 hemi charger. And love it! Before that it had been over 14 years since my last car project a frame off 64 GTO. Work, kids, and time pull me from the car seen. Add that up it equals $$$. But I'm back and like you I’m thinking about my next car project and I'm not even 1/2 way into the T/A. I hope my son Kurt gets hooked along the way! Thanks! Pat |

I need to replace the right side door skin, no rust just too many dents. My question for today is, how’s the fit of the repro door skins, and has any one replaced one?
Thanks Pat |
