That's pretty light for an abody.
My father's 69 got with an aluminum headed 571 and 4l80e, 12 bolt rear, power steering and brakes the only options, a full tank of gas and him sitting in it is 4120 lbs on my scales. He's a buck 50 so 3970 without driver. |

My 70 formula is 3690 with a full tank and no driver. PS and pdb for options. |

What’s a 4L80e weigh though ? I went to a CAT scale at the local Travel truck stop .

The Endura nose on GTOs is not light as compared to even a regular steel one or fiberglass .
So not surprised that your BBC Chevell is only 5 lbs heavier.

A 4l80e without its factory converter is just shy of 180 lbs. Converter weight depends on what you're putting in it, but is anywhere from 50-80 lbs. It's a solid 50+ lbs heavier than a TH400.
My 69 Firebird with aluminum heads/intake, th400, moser 12 bolt, full interior, no AC was 3630 with my in it, half a tank of fuel and crafstman 150 piece toolset. I haven't weighed it since I've made changes to the brakes and swapped to a 4l80e+TSP converter The car had standard OE 11" discs all around with iron calipers. Now has 13" front, 12" rear discs with aluminum calipers and lost the vacuum booster and iron master for an aluminum manual master.

My ‘71 GTO is in my signature. Weighed it at Great Lakes Dragaway. I was surprised how heavy it was.
That was without me in it,as I remember, about 225 lbs. I did have about a 40 lb. toolbox in the trunk for tuning and adjustments. edit- ya know maybe that was with me in it. Geez, so long ago I don’t remember.

My 1977 Can Am, A Body, weighed 4465 lbs. at Milan Dragway, years ago. It was loaded with all power accessories, seats, windows A/C with 3/4 tank of gas, w/o me in it. The 1973-1977 A and G bodies were heavy. It had a 455 with cast iron 1970 intake and HO exhaust manifolds, stock turbo 400 and a 3.08:1 posi axle.

Just weighed my 71 with me in it….4003 lb……I’m around 200….no ac auto car.
Did have the welds with slicks on the rears when weighed this time….that shaved some weight

As long as we're throwing numbers out there my 74 TA weighs 4100 without drive and with Honeycomb wheels. My 74 Formula was a fight to get down to 3860. I believe the 74's were the heaviest of the second generation Firebirds.

Just wondering because my 68 GTO that I ran 13.20’s with, closed exhaust off show room floor. Just didn’t realize they wighted that much. The 64 GTO I had weighed, with back seat out and two fiberglass front seats weigh 3100 lbs, with out me in it.. sounds like what everyone has said the 64 GTO was the lightest.
