George, are these the fasteners that can be affected from the oils on your hands? Some ARP fasteners you need to wear gloves when handling them.

But the 700$ rod bolts for Crower billet rods require gloves. Not sure what the name/number those 700$ bolts are. |

The L-19 bolts are the ones your supposed to use gloves with. Some builders brush ARP lube on their fingers instead.

I'm thinking the same thing for Butler...It seems like they would be a great upgrade option.

I am also wondering why they dont put any sort of receiver groove in the head...Tom V explained the basics of the rings, and how they work, but it just seems like they'd be even better with a few thou receiver groove. |

I have one of those on my turbo setup IA2. The ring will cut its own groove to the head. Thats how it seals the bore. So when you remove the heads, u need to get it milled .005 to make it flat again.

So yours is dry decked too? How much boost have you made?

Dry deck and reverse cool. I only had it to 15 psi on the dyno.

How did you do the reverse cool?

I got a billet timing cover that I bought from a PY member and used a SBC nascar water pump and reverse cooled it. Not sure if it was actually better but I did it anyways.

Just a note. When you eliminate the head gasket thickness you have to make an adjustment in the piston to head clearance.

Really? Wouldn't there be a number of combustion chamber shapes in which that could not work? In my ignorance, I assumed that a matching groove was cut in the head.

Marty's ring, will cut into the head on its own. That is how it seals as the rings are not flat on one side. It is raised on the outer wall of the rings and that is responsible for sealing.
